On June 21, 1970, Brookings hosted its first marathon, appropriately named the Longest Day Marathon. In 2004, the course was revised and the race name changed to the Brookings Marathon.
This May marks the 50th running of the 25th oldest marathon in the US.
As it has since 2004, the course includes historic neighborhoods, beautiful parks, bike paths, and tree-lined streets, all supported by hundreds of wonderful volunteers. Opportunities abound for family and friends to cheer along the way. End the day with a great post-race party to celebrate your accomplishment and our 50th.
Join us this coming May for the 50th running of the Brookings Marathon. A half century of marathon tradition!
